ANALYSES OF NON LOCAL EFFECTS OF RIBLETS

Benedetto Mele, Renato Tognaccini, Pietro Catalano

Abstract

The paper deals with the effects of pressure gradient and shock wave on riblet performance. A model for the numerical simulations of riblets at high Reynolds numbers is presented and results of airfoil flows in subsonic and transonic conditions are discussed and compared with available experiments. Finally a complex transonic wing body configuration will be studied.
